I am having an issue with my 96 GT where after releasing the brake pedal my brake lights stay on. I replaced the brake switch with no change. While under the dash I noticed the pedal is just barely not releasing the switch, I am talking like I move the pedal out an 1/8” and lights go out. The pedal spring was rusted so I sprayed some wd-40 on it with no change. Any ideas? Can’t find that spring anywhere.

I don't remember quite what the mechanism looks like, because I have too many cars to maintain, but if there is a plunger that hits the brake pedal arm, you can jb weld a nickle, dime or penny to take up some space.

It's a G35 thing.

If there is a plastic or rubber grommet (pedal stop) that is just worn down, you can replace it with a plastic push pin as well.

as he said stick your head up under the dash and on the brake pedal you will see the switch. One side should be constant, the other should put 12v on it when the pedal is pushed. It can get knocked out of place
