there has been this crazy clanking coming from the rear end. I changed the rear shocks and still made the noise. Yesterday I looked again and I realized that the sway bar is broken right where it bolts to the control arm on the passanger side. Now that shock was blown out and was not working do you think that could have been why it broke?

This is usually caused by hard launches in the GT. With the hollow sway bar that is the common breaking point. Most search out a Cobra sway bar as a replacement.

Sold my 98 Cobra bar to a member on here last year.

VERY common issue. If you get on it at all in a GT, it WILL break at some point.
