I have a chance to buy a 2002 Ford Ranger 4.2 v6 . It has a very solid body , good tires and would make a great little truck. It is throwing a PO 171 and Po174 code , running lean. It could be an vacuum leak , bad MAF of EGR. The owner thought it could be the intake gasket. How prone are these engines to blowing out an intake gasket. All other possibilities can be checked with a smoke test, clean MAF and check ERG , but I really don't want to have to tear into the engine to change an intake gasket. Any experience or suggestions would be welcome
