if i recall correctly (i changed to bbk covers) there is a ring going around the gasket surface that the gasket sits in.
you can get gaskets from ford.

The gaskets aren't the main concern...I have an occasional rattle from the front inside the cam cover...car runs great so what could be loose? I just wanted to have the right gaskets to get it back together after I check it out.

Funny you mention this but I had a piece of my oil fill cap/housing break off and fall in my head. Didnt do any damage but you could hear it flopping around. Just remove the cover and inspect.

Wrong side for oil, maybe pcv ?

So, is the existing gasket reuseable? (back to original question)

"I am told it is more like an o-ring. It should be reusable. there is silicone at both ends of the valve cover. If the silicone is sliced and then the cover is removed, the o-ring is reuseable. If the valve cover is just yanked off then it can stretch the o-ring making it non-reusable..."

That's what I wanted to know! I'll chance taking it off without a spare handy.

Thanks!
