I ordered these from RPM outlet. They say bolt on cam gears..however I dont understand how these "bolt on" to the camshafts...

http://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv8compcam.htm#c
(the last product on the page for 70 bucks)

I dont see any holes on the cam gear..how do I apply these? Looks like these press on......

Please help. Thanks

Part on the box says..F8AZ6256AA

I really hope these are the right parts.......

they go on the way your factory gears come off.

there not holes, there a hole. in the center, a big one.

theres a threeaded hole in your cam, you put on the spacer, then the cam gear, then the bolt with washer goes on. in screws into the actual cam, the cam gear is then samwiched between the washer and spacer and thats how it "bolts on"

the keyway on the cam and key on the gear is how you line them up. unless your putting in big cams, then grind the keyway off the gear and degree them. just the spacer and washer on the bolt will hold them in place, as long as you torque them correctly.

cam gear that is solid goes on the driver side, cam gear that has all the holes goes on the passenger side. make sure when your lining up the timing marks on the drivers side, its the SMALL RECESSED DOT that lines up with the link in the chain, NOT the big bulge for the cam position sensor.

hang on ill go to the garage and snap some pics to make it easier on ya.

ok heres a couple quick ones i snapped on my spares.

heres a "exploded" view of all the cams front stuff.

just the cam sitting in the head.

spacer on cam (these are not side specific)

heres when the cam gear goes on, its not pressed, just slides on with the keyway lined up.

then the bolt with washer goes on the end, screwing into the cam itself.

tightened, notice the bulge on the gear at about 12 o'clock is NOT the timing mark, the recessed dot that i have painted white is the timing mark.

and heres a top view just for reference purposes.

hope this helps.

shoudn't need to on hitech's, leaving some power on the table by not doing it, but not to much.

i know alot of people don't degree them, just throw them in 'straight up' and love them. they will lope more not degree'd.
and trust me, a degree kit costs WAY less than new heads and pistons because of PTV contact.

im definitly one of the people that swear by degree'ing. i wouldn't put anything over stock in w/o degree'ing them.
