Does anyone know if theres a list of cams for PI heads out there..I thought for the longest time 268 comps were PI cams. I'm having problems with the search feature, /sever application error blah blah..

I've heard of patriot (heard they're garbage..)
I've heard of HiTech (heard they're the best.)
And I've also heard of comp cams of course, so is there a list of model numbers for the cams that are able to be used in PI heads? Thanks guys

Crower makes NPI and PI cams, their low lift stage 1 is pretty similar to PI stockers.
Cam Motion
Crane
Vt
countless others that can do regrinds as well.

Also, which of these crane cams can I use? I'm so confused now on the cams, crower's are balls expensive..I'd rather not have to upgrade springs, as I'm going to be replacing my timing chain set as well, but if I have to I dont wanna have to buy really expensive cams. Which ones are for my PI heads? Thanks, sorry I'm a pain..

Oh and thanks for the link cobraRed!

Nvm on those, I think I'm going with the Stage II VT cams...

Im so lost now on t he parts I need, it says Ill need new springs which I get, I can use the comp cams springs..?

and I also need new press on gears? I have windsor heads on their way..

What else do I need for the cams alone to install them?

if you already have the heads off then its very easy to swap springs. so for the money its worth it for the security of your engine. somewhere on here i've read that comp springs arent as good as others. i believe its crower that makes the better ones. not 100% sure tho
not really anything you NEED to install the cams. cam and follower lubricant is good but using engine oil will suffice.
check with the company you are buying the cams from. i think most aftermarket cams will come with the bolt-on gear. so you'll have to buy 2 bolt on gears, 2 woodruff keys, and 2 bolts/washers.

I did my Cushman Motorsports (the guy from VT) 2.5 Blower Cams, Manley NEXTEK springs and Crower offset retainers with the heads still on the car. I got it done with a helper (96BlueMoon), an OTC valve spring compressor, and a separate air compressor to pressurize the cylinder. It can be done in a few hours regardless of what people say. It was our first time doing a SOHC cam swap.

My cams are .536/.540 lift, 228/235 .050 duration, 114 LSA ....and they fit in NPI heads. I really didn't need the offset retainers, but I was approaching coil stack and used a .060 offset retainers for some extra insurance.
