Looking at replacing the stock cam, in fact of course it should be a kit with new lifters. I dont need something thats completely computer friendly, as the PMS should be able to sort out idle, but i dont want to have to buy a higher stall converter or anything else thats too wild, so something that's mainly street more than strip.
Obviously something that goes with with the afr 165's and cobra intake, my injectors and maf are still stock.
I'm hoping eventually for a Vortech, so something cam-wise that i dont have to swap again later if possible. :)
Been looking On Summits site [as they ship to the UK no problem] but there's so many to choose from.

If your converter is stock, you need to stay with the stock cam.

I'm not to sure your understanding of torque converters is accurate. You could have a 3000 Stall converter, everyday driving is not going to change.

The only difference a converter is going to make is when you stand on the gas pedal. The power is not going to spin the tires until 2700~3000 RPM.

The stock converter stalls at 1600 which is horrible when trying to have a mustang with an auto move. A mustang with a stock converter (even when flashing the converter) will crawl away from the line instead of taking off...

Obviously something that goes with with the afr 165's and cobra intake, my injectors and maf are still stock.

Keep in mind with a cam lift really does not play a role in clearances until you get in the upper 230+ duration.

Duration is where you want to watch. Do the AFR's have the better lift springs or are they the older style where they won't accept much lift?

I am not against cams by any means but, I would only invest in a cam if you plan on racing a lot. You can go pretty far with a stock cam believe it or not.

Their are guys running 10's on stock cams. The difference in the stock cam vs. the aftermarket is maybe .2 -.3/10 of a second in the 1/4 mile for your average driver.

LAFENATU is right you have the wrong preceptions of converters. I know i did up untill 2 months ago until I rode in my friends car that has a 3000 stall. A new converter would really weak that car up, and will not hurt your driving at all. just do both

Maybe i dont, i'm not into auto's to be fair, its just i could'nt find a manual so i'm stuck with it. ;).
Just wondered why Comp Cams list their cams in such a way as if these are the mods you need, mods you have, or just as an example;

HYDRAULIC ROLLER-Mass air, 5 speed Hyd. Hyd. 2000 to 5500 35-302-8 281HR 281 284 220 224 .512 .533 112°
or 2500+ stall, heads, intake, headers,
3.55-3.73 gears.

Thats what i need to hear, its either worth a cam swap or its not. ;)
But i can see now it would be worth changing the converter as well, damn i wish i had bought one with a manual gearbox now.
