Honestly if you think chancing it with a dropped valve is worth $200 then go for it but I would just keep an eye out on all the websites and you will find someone selling them for cheap. $200 is not worth a busted motor....thats my opinion. Its your car...good luck

Just got off the phone with Hi-Tech, He has a guy using a 140,000 mile long block 4.6 with stock springs, and turns past 6800 rpms, with no troubles.

Again, that is your choice. From what I have learned from everything is that no motor is the same as another. I guess if we were talking $500-1000 more and 20 hrs of labor then ok, but were talking at most $200 and about 2hrs of work you can do yourself with a valve spring tool.

Good LUck

Well Im running a 262H which is a 224/232 duration .500 lift and a stock PI has a .532 lift.... Im sure a cam that has 234/230 duration with .550/.500 lift will be ok.

The Hitech cam is a different design cam, it was made for the stock PI head. That is why its making more power than the other cams on a stock head.

Now if I was going to use the comp 270's or VT stage 2's, then hell yeah I would be installing high lift springs. But Im gonna buy the hitech's and run the factory springs.

Trust me for the cost of cams for mod motors, Ive done hours of research and seen probably every video on the web in the last couple weeks. I should be ordering them around the 1st week of April.
What happened to the good ole' 99.99 cams? lol Back in the late 80's early 90's I changed cams more often than spark plugs...

Man Im really not sure.
I would think that you would be safe. Are you planning on staying NA? If so the higher comp would be nice.

comp cams on a pi swapped are very close you need to degree them for them to work and don't under perform hitec's by too much maybe 5hp at the wheels! hitec did my short block! they were impressed with the #s and how close the were to theirs!
