im currently in the middle of my build on my 98 gt i have a fully forged motor with eagle rods and pistons and a kellogg 8 blot crank stuffed into a aluminator block. on top sits a set patriot stage 2 heads and crower stage 2 blower cams. while the breathing is done by a bullitt intake. and of course much more!
i was originally going to go with a KB s/c but now that i have this intake i found a friend who has a vortech v-1 hes selling for $1400. my question is will my stock tranny or rear survive if i put it on now.

your clutch will in out first followed by your third hear i would expect. i wouldn't worry your rear end till you upgrade those.

let me clear up a few things. i also have a fidanza 8 bolt aluminum flywheel, steeda stage 2 clutch, and 4.10 gears. my question is really about my tranny. im running out of money on the build and it doesnt look like ill be able to get both the kb s/c and the drivetrain to back it up. so i thought maybe if i get the vortech ill be safe. and ill be satified for now.

put it together the way you want then play nice w/ it until you can get the right parts. w/ a good driver the trans will last a while, get sloppy w/ it and it could lay down after 20 miles. As for the the rear you'll be ok until you upgrade the trans you'll need to pick up a 31 spline set up. even if you just get a carrier from an explorer and some axles that will be the better way to do it.

how much stronger is the 3650 trans? we had about 4 yrs worth of 12.0x passes on it and never had an issue.

You'll make more power with the S-trim. That answer your question? :)

The best advice I could give anyone: Build a car from the back to the front. You can only go fast if the car can support it. Car won't go very fast with a supercharger but a broken drivetrain.
