can u put 5.0 heads backwards?

You can swap all heads left to right.

Factory heads will have a plug in the Thermactor system hole in the front side of the heads as they were installed on your engine at the factory. If for any reason you want to switch the heads from one side of the engine to the other during a rebuild you can remove the threaded Thermactor plugs and switch their locations to the opposite ends of the heads, enabling you to mount the heads on the other side of the engine.

If you do not have the Thermactor emissions system on your car all of these holes will be plugged, or if your car is older it won't have them at all.

There are no factory "left" or "right" head castings. There is only one number and they all have the accessories holes for the correct side at each end however they happen to be installed on the engine.

Thanks for the help. i jist got pissed b/c i paid the guy a lot of money to biuld it, and i don't think i should have to go back and correct stuff he did. and i am mechanically incline. this is the forth motor i have put in the car and i also have a truck that i have swapt 5.0's in. i jist wanted a lil confermation

For what it's worth, I am a Tooling Layout Inspector for Ford which means I work with their part numbers and prints on a regular basis.

Back as far as I can remember heads have always been only one design, no left or right. It saves on manufacturing costs and that is usually #1.

Good post. I couldn't remember for sure if E7's were universal like that so i didn't wanna spread bad gouge. Thanks for the clarification!

yep, i sell parts at a ford dealership and that tends to be the way most of the numbers are, pretty much the same damn part just either backwards or can be easily interchanged
