Caps/rotors are pretty much the same. OEM Ford work just as well as MSD. I have several MSDs with no problems, plus now they make a nice black one. :)

I've not seen empirical data that an MSD coil is better than a stock Ford one, but I have them on a few cars of mine - again, no problems.

If your distributor works fine, I wouldn't bother spending the money on a new one.

i have a msd cap/rotor, hypertech coil, and ford 9mm wires and holy hell it puts out a huge spark, i was working on the car and it was running, i forgot to put a spark plug wire back on and when i saw it, there was a huge spark coming out of the boot and i was being one big dumbass and i grabbed it cause i didnt want it to accidently touch something and i wasnt thinking about how it would shock me when the car was on, that damn thing made my arm go numb and weird feeling like if you hit your funnybone but like 100 times worse, lol thought i wasnt going to be able to move my arm again cause it lasted a few minutes

wow lol thats nuts man.

yeah I think ill just go MSD cap/rotor either that or ford like you said, probably stay away from the nienhoff or what ever cheap-o overseas one you can get for 1/2 the price. Is there any way to test a coil or your dist? How many miles do these usually last for?

I got MSD rotor\cap coil, and some Taylor leads, nicer still as they are all red. ;)

Not only does all MSD stuff look better than OEM, but I can honestly say the Blaster Coil scared the hell out of me the first time I had it in the car... was checking for spark and it sparked clear to the intake... it sparks a LOT more than the stock one ever did, and I felt a huge improvement replacing my entire underhood ignition system.
