It was a Good Friday for me. I spent the day at Ramsey’s Performance getting some issues corrected on the GTS. Let me preface this with that I will not mention the shops
Name in this post, nor are they a Vendor or Forum Sponsor. And that I have attempted to contact them on several occasions, all with no return phone calls. So last year I had a local shop in Tampa install new fuel injectors, mass air meter, Diablo chip and tuning on the GTS. This required the Kenne Bell to be removed (and all associated vacuum lines and whatever else was in the way of the fuel rails). My car has run very rich and had issues idling since then. So approximately 2 months ago I was detailing my engine bay and found my #4 plug wire loose. So I snapped it back on and Wow, the extreme fuel smell was all but gone. I was some what concerned after this, so I contacted Dennis at Ramsey’s to see about getting the GTS looked at. And here is the good part… What should have been a short time getting a blessing that all was ok; Ramsey’s found several vacuum lines disconnected. One on the top of the fuel pressure regulator. Another which goes to the fuel return line and one more coming from my throttle body. After these were repaired I had them install new spark plugs for me. Upon removing the old plugs we found 2 that were finger tight (these were removed and the gaps were set by the shop in question). So we install the new plugs and get it ready for a baseline Dyno and when Ramsey’s pulls the computer out what do we find inside (other than the Diablo chip that I paid for). You guessed it the old Kenne Bell switch chip, I felt like we just opened a Cracker Jack box. I am not sure why this was left inside my computer but whatever. Now we go to the Dyno, this is the moment of truth. Again more disappointment, the car is pig rich, and the horsepower and torque were low. Now here is where Dennis Ramsey’s tuning magic happens, after a few pulls and tunes Dennis gets another 40.91RWHP and 40.2RWTQ. Now my GTS is running great and not smelling like fuel anymore.

I really want to thank Dennis and John at Ramsey’s Performance for correcting these issues (and not raping me financially).

P.S. Choose your shop wisely…

That's why I do my own work. Nearly every shop I've ever seen is a bunch of hacks.

I agree... you need to call out that shop so other people don't go and get treated the same way you did... as far as your numbers, what all do you have done? 300 seems kinda low for a blown car, or were you only shooting for 300? I can make 300 with just heads/cam/intake.

Totally agree would like to know who screwed you over this bad. As far as the numbers, Maybe is because he dos'nt have heads or cam on the car? i may have missed it in the engine modifications but i think would make huge difference if heads and cam were included in the setup.

Whistler, How you like the kenne bell?

I love the KB. It has been on the car since it was new (it still only has 11K miles now). Last year I changed injector size and some other things, and this is when the work from above was done. It has stock heads and cam, and 300 is quite respectable for that (KB estimates gains at 75HP with this setup). We can squeeze 320 RWHP, but without an intercooler it gets a little lean. With the hyperexplosive pistons this is dangerous. If you would like to know the shops name in Tampa. Pm me.

Nice to hear about a shop that takes care of you. There are too many horror stories, as well as those that don't even know they didn't get what they paid for.

Same here, any clown can go down to Kinko's and print business cards, go rent a pole barn, and call themselves a shop. The one's that are good, are hard to come by.

What I see even more often, are shops that CAN do good work, and do when the magazine guy's are around, or when it's their car, but could give a crap about your car and half ass everything. It's like they let their car buddy come to work for them, and they really don't know half as much as they can spout off about on a message board. A few "shops" in Ohio fit this bill.

As far as legal recourse goes, you are often screwed because they are not state or ASE certified most of the time either, any lawsuit becomes a personal matter.

They ARE good shops out there, but you have to put in the time with them, get to know them, get to know other's who have done their work.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out, without any damage to your motor, lucky thing it didn't wash down the cylinder walls and ruin your ring seal :thumb:
