clutch pedal rattling!!!

Ever since putting in my upr adjustable clutch cable and quadrant/ with firewall adjuster im getting this really annoying rattle or vibration from the pedal when my foot isnt on it and im coasting along.

Is this a common problem with the aftermarket cable setups and if so how do i fix it??

Sounds like you have a bigger problem than just a cable to me. I have all the stuff plus an adjustable cable that you mentioned and i've never had a problem. I'm not sure how a miss-adjustment would cause vibrations.

when we put the car back together the clutch was still like new, only has 15k on it, but the throwout had a little wear on it so i replaced it and the clutch fork was a little worn so we replaced it. both parts are ford replacement parts.

Only thing I can think of is that you adjusted the cable too tight or loose and it's either slipping or chattering. Need someone with more knowledge to add some input.

I would have to agree. Unless the something else went wrong. What condition was your bearing retainer?

It's a very common problem when the proper amount of freeplay is adjusted into the cable/throwout bearing. The best fix for it, and still have good freeplay for long bearing and clutch life, is to attach a spring(available at the local parts store in a variety pack of clutch springs) to the fork, and then run it back to one of the ears on the trans with a hole through it, usually around the middle of the trans case. It works like a charm and keeps the clutch pedal up to the top yet, gives the freeplay on the bearing it needs to completely release the clutch. I install a bunch of these setups and quite a few had the rattle issue, this fixes it and keeps everything and everyone happy.

This sounds more like what it is doing. if i barely lay my foot on the pedal there is no noticable shaking, so i figured it just had to be something like that, when i get back from working out of town ill have to try that.

Pics would be greatly appreciated of this way if you have any!!

Mine has had that annoying rattle periodically since I bought it. I knew it needed a clutch when I bought the car (6 years ago) so I dismissed the rattle for a bad clutch. Installed a king cobra clutch and it still does it periodically. Never gave me any problems so I just left it alone. Nice to know that a silly little return spring will fix it.

I will have to take pics the next time I install a clutch in a mod stang. Clutch return springs are available at AutoZone, Advance, and Orielly's auto parts stores. I think I paid 10 bucks for a container of about 5 or 6 springs. The have a hook on one end, then the coil spring, then a long rod you can bend and cut to length. I hook the spring into the ear with a hole in it on the side of the trans, then stretch the spring to the fork, and loop it through next to where the cable goes through it and bend it around, then cut off. You want a little tension but still enough spring left to stretch when clutch is released.
