Im looking forward to buying a new clutch for my car, and my two honest options are the Ram HD clutch or the SPEC stage 1...its my daily driver and theres occasional drag racing. Can someone point me in the right direction im having a hard time deciding which one to buy. thanks

With stock power levels i would just go with a King Cobra clutch. Even with more then stock the KC will hold a decent amount of power. Or you could go with the LME Mongoose which is a copy of it.

well see im putting down about 285rwhp with the setup i got... i actually replaced my clutch about a year ago with a oem replacement, did drag racing quite a lot through the summer, and now it'll slip if i launch it anywhere above 2000-2500 rpms :(

Well a KC clutch will hold that and still be very streetable. Are you going off actual dyno #'s or just "what you think??"

As the saying goes you gotta pay to play.

The king cobra was discontinued and replied by the ford HD the pedal is pretty hard with these clutches the Ram clutches working pretty good with a nice pedal feel and grab well

I love my spec stage 2, and haven't had a problem yet. Grabs like I want it to,and is lighter than the clutch used to feel haha.

those numbers were layed down 2 years ago at MidNight performance's dyno in Sacramento, Ca... it was 284.9 rwhp and 291.0 rwtq @ 5100rpms. with gt40x heads, FRPP e303 cam, and all supporting mods. i might just stick with the Ram HD though.

Onyx, you should have felt the old one. Idk wtf was wrong with it. Compared to that thing, this stage 2 is a breeze ha :D

haha, don't get me wrong I really like my stage 2, but in any sort of traffic it definitely starts wearing on ya. My main concern with picking a clutch was I didn't want one that chattered, the Spec stage 2 engages smooth for street driving but will bite hard when you want, but I feel for 300whp it's a little overkill. I felt a guy's stage 1 and it wasn't any lighter, if anything maybe heavier.

I love my SPEC, RAM has a great reputation. I would-Just for the hell of it, call your Mustang dyno shop ask them their opinion. They install several different types every day practically. It might be one more beneficial opinion. I think your putting down enough HP for a SPEC Stage2 though.

I've heard that the ram clutch can take more abuse due to higher clamp loads compared to the spec. But I'll defenetely ask the dyno shop. Ill take a look at the centerforce clutches

I got the whole thing as one http://www.cjponyparts.com/cj-pony-parts-supreme-clutch-kit-t-5-5+0l-1994-1995/p/CKS2/ . Would have liked a different flywheel but it will work for now. Getting an adjustable linkage helps also. Way nicer then my buddies stage 2 centerforce. Mine is softer and easier for DD and has a grip for fun. If you really have the issue with the pedal its going to be in the pressure plate itself. Looking into that hydraulic TO kit. As Win said that kit from LMR is a good one also..

Mine is as soft as stock feeling. I matched up a SPEC Stage1 with a SPEC billet steel flywheel. Very smooth transactions.
