so i need to replace the clutch on my mustang. Is there anything special about replacing it, or do i just disconnect the drive shaft, drop the tranny, remove the bell housing, and you can get to the clutch to replace it correct? I have heard on some cars you have to move the engine a little or something.

Do a search of this site on clutches. There is a lot of info and experience here.
Always, always have the flywheel machined.

Good Luck,

well, what you said covers it all..........for a traditional t5 transmission. on the t45 in our cars, its a bit more complicated.

some suggestions for you tho...

1) to remove the upper most of the three bolts that hold the starter, use plenty of extensions (all the way to the radiator) and a few swivel/universal joints.

2) REMOVE THE UPPER 2 BOLTS ON THE TRANSMISSION FIRST. yes, the two at the very top of the bell housing. unbolt the crossmember, and let the weight of the transmission pull it down. take the top 2 bolts out first, then work your way down evently.

3) drain the transmission first, makes it a lot easier to carry/lift/move.

oh, and on our cars with the t45 engine, the bell housing is part of the transmission, and if you were to remove that, the guts of the transmission would be exposed and might fall out. (thats where my comment of the t5 came into play, sorry about that)

2 Plugs in pass. side of trans. 1 up high for fill. 1 lower one for drain. Use 3/8" drive socket wrench to open.... w/o the socket.
