Clutch slips

If I get the adjustable clutch cable and stuff would that help with my slipping problem. This clutch is only like 2 years old and I dont really feel like getting a new one. If that doesn't work, does anyone know if RAM clutches are any good? Thanks.

I would just replace it. If your only pushing stock Hp levels and slightly above a King Cobra Unit would work great for you. I have a Centerforce Stage II with a Ford OEM disc and i love the way it grabs. As far as the clutch cable only replace it with a OEM Ford Cable. You'll thank us later.

If it comes down to clutch replacement, be sure and get the flywheel machined. Was this done 2 yrs. ago? This is a major cause of short clutch life, besides the ol' "sidestepping the clutch" routine.

very true! the flywheel needs to be ground FLAT by a machine shop.

RAM is the way to go. i have a stock-ish 94 that i'll be putting the musclecar clutch in (RAM-92792 from summit), with a stock freshly ground flywheel. if you have HCI or a power adder, i recommend the power grip (RAM-98794 from summit).

Don't go away from the OEM Ford cable. You won't like the outcome. There are great quadrant/firewall adjusters out there though.
I have the Fiore Racing quad & firewall adjuster kit. It's like butta....

I am a fan of SPEC & Centerforce clutches.

I have also used the Ford Racing King Cobra and that was a great clutch.

When you get your flywheel machined, make sure to check the runout afterwards. Most shops will let the apprentices handle flywheel machining. Pretty straight forward and you can't really screw it up (unless you're completely brain dead), but it's always good to check.

Don't you need a fixture to check runout?
