What is the difference between the 03-04 Cobra and the 03-04 Mach 1 motor besides the obvious with the Blower. Are the internals the same? Also, how hard realisticly is it to swap that motor into my 96? Does anyone have a NO-BS list of what all is needed? Thanks

From what I hear the Mach internals are weaker.

To do the swap it's best to just get the whole front clip or car if you can.

i think the mach1 motor, if its automatic, comes with non-forged internals. if its off a stick shift, it comes with the same forged crank as the cobra, and thats about where the similarities end.

03/04 cobra:
Forged pistons
forged crank
forged rods
cast iron block
aluminum 4v heads
blower
6k redline
8.6:1 Compression ratio (i think...i know its something low but cant remember the exact number)

mach1:
forged crank (if 5speed, if auto then its cast)
aluminum block
aluminum 4v heads (same as the cobra)
better n/a cams
10.1:1 compression ratio
7k redline (6k if its auto)

reivax got most of it...
your parts list is going to depend on how complete the motor is. right now i am putting a mach 1 motor with a procharger d1sc in my car. but if your gonna go n/a and your motor is pretty much complete you can keep it down to:
98 cobra plug wires
radiator hoses
if u buy a motor out of a manual but have an auto u will need an 8 bolt flexplate
4v headers
air intake
agian it really depends how complete the motor is... and as far as the cobra motor being the shit well yea it is but for the money the mach motor can hold up to 450hp. and i got mine for 2600 shipped and the procharger for 3k. thats less than most termi motors sell for and once i forge it ill be good for a while so its all in what u want

how hard is it to swap that mach 1 motor in yours? I am ok with basic mecanical stuff, its not hard, but i am a retard when it comes to electrical stuff. I had to take a "Electrical Theory" class when I was at Nashville Auto Diesel College and I hated it, I was lucky to pass that class!

ok so what about the 99-01 cobra motors compared to the mach 1? I have been told inthe past that if you get a cobra get a Termi, but I am curious about the 99-01 Cobras..thanks

pretty similar the cobra has a lower compression ratio from what i hear, the the mach has the updated c heads and some say the cobra has better cams... i personally think it would be much easier to find parts for the cobra motor
