So it might be all in my head but i just changed over from a K&N filter in the stock housing to a BBK fender mount cia and it seems like its very hesitant now and the car doesnt pull as hard. Is that normal? It made the exhaust a little louder which isnt a bad thing though. I think im just going to put the stock stuff back in unless someone convinces me otherwise.

hmm. i just put the bbk cai in yesterday and it was a phenomenal improvement. i wasnt inspecting that much from just the cai. but the throttle response was greatly increased and now its instantaneous. and i noticed a decent power gain in the mid-rpms. only thing that i think would cause that is maybe you got one of the plugs dirty while swapping out. i made sure to clean(very precautiously) the maf sensor and the air temp sensor before i re-installed everything. so i would check that first

There isn't any difference between a K&N panel filter in a stock housing and a fenderwell CAI.

CAI is for looks more than anything..

I went from a stock intake w/ K&N filter too a cia last weekend as well... I noticed a significant improvement... and my cia is a cheap ass one fenderwell... but cheap... I would definitely NOT go back to the stock assembly... check everything out first...

agreed...but does provide a smoother air passage; but mainly for looks and getting 10x more dirt on it

The C&L comes with a meter too doesn't it?
its has a cal. tube in it, not completely accurate higher than 30# but good enough until the car gets a tune

If the CAI has a larger tube, is smoother than stock on the inside... then yes it should make better airflow, this concept is the same with porting your intake, and getting a larger throttle body. The more air in, usually means your getting more power. Personally, I think it's pointless to have just a drop in filter... Thats why someday I'm going to buy a CAI... also for looks.

Right now I have a ram air kit attached to the filter, but I would like a CAI better.
