IMHO Aftermarket CAIs are really worth the "gains" on our cars. Besides looks, I don't see any real problem with out factory setups, they don't have crazy bends or restrictions and don't heat soak too bad and they don't have restrictive boxes on them. K&N drop-in in mine and I'm happy.

are you kidding? the opening on the box is like a 3" x 3" hole.... .. . . . .. ..

otherwise i agree with this statement.

There was a picture of someone who measured the ID of the JLT and the ID of the Stock intake tube... you would be suprised.

JLT is top of the line in my opinion. We have them on my car and my Dad's Shelby. Excellent fit and finish. They are painted with car-quality paint and clearcoat. They are made of a PVC material that isn't as much of a heat conductor as metal.

JLT is right up the street from me and everyone local that i have talked to hates there fitment and cust service.

I have a drop in K&N in mine...it went into the stock position & I still have the snorkel in! Just haven't gotten around to removing it.

Well you better remove that quick so you get those massive power gains. I somehow got into a pissing contest over on MM about how much power it added if you removed it. The words in red are a guy over on MM that swears you will get RWHP gains from it. I don't think you can net that much.

Bumping the Timing will result in having to run a higher Octane Gas True, but it's a proven way to gain an easy ~6rwhp.

Removing the Silencer from the Air Filter Housing (snorkel) you won't notice any gain in that. Actually there's a ~4rwhp gain.

Removing the Mesh from the MAF actually can throw a CEL so don't do it. I don't know where you heard that. I did it before I started adding mods and had no issue at all.

I have the anderson ford Power pipe. Paid $109. To much? Probably...worth it to me? yes... better then having it look like I by my car parts at home depot.

i think the Anderson is probably one of the only ones i would ever own. Did you have a bracket to mount it or does it just sit there?

correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the set-up that venom has actually bad? Kenne bell's site says never to use in the engine bay ram air as you are sucking in heat soaked air vs. cooler fender air ie; most aftermarket CAIs and the stock air box for example...

I took my JLT in fender, junked teh fender elbow and used it as a ram air intake. it doesnt make a difference..... it really doesnt. This year as i stated will be using a stock intake tube and a filter and should be good.

I always considerd a ram-air intake like what the ws6 trans ams had where there is a scoop on the outside of the car so that when the vehicle was moving, air was"rammed" into the intake. Am I wrong there as it would seem that alot of cars are using ram-air intakes and not advertising.

4hp from taking out the air silencer? I would have to see that to believe it that it would mak 2/3rd the difference in a timing bump and higher octane gas....

mine just sits there nothing is holding it. The gains from having it in the fender are probably so small you cant even measure it. That may not be what KB says but thats in a bossted application and they are probably trying to sell you something.

having the filter in the engine bay has to make a difference vs having it in the fenderwell. and yes KB says if your filter is in the engine bay it will void the warranty on the blower. Imo that AFM Power Pipe looks exactly like something you'd buy from home depot down to the tubing connector, my $40 eBay intake looks to be twice the product that the power pipe is.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but those don't look cheap at all, they look like turbo grade nitrile rubber connectors

I read somewhere what the estimated gain in hp was for every 5-10 degrees of cooler air you can get but can't remember the numbers. If you are not concerned about a few extra free hp then why even bother putting on a new intake?

If you are looking for cheap pick up a used K&N FIPK or something.

I went with a Tunable Induction (Demolet) because I thought it was pretty.

KB is speaking in terms of a boosted application

True but that means the fender air is cooler enough than the engine bay air that they think it makes a difference, and it makes sense.

Reminds me of something I'd find in plumbing but I'm no expert.

I'll just quote all of this, I agree with onyx 100% on this. I'm just throwing this out there, but cooler air has ALWAYS meant a better, cleaner, most efficient combustion. As for venom's intake, call it turbo fittings, it does look like simple plumbing tubes :p.

I went to home depot and lowes looking for 4" piping and rubber fittings that would fit the Accufab TB. No such luck they suck balls both of them. So I said F it and bought the AFM power pipe and IMO looks better then some cheapo PVC pipe

I work at Home Depot and i know we sell a fitting called Fernco that is 4". You can go to a Lanscape store and get 4" flexible piping.

The one I went to didnt have it, I was not about to drive all over the state trying to find one that did. The money in gas would have cost more then the AFM Pipe

they did have all kinds of fittings but nothing that would make a whole 4" set up work together between the bends piping exc exc..there was always something missing

Ended up ditching my ebay cai after the cheap paint started bubbling and flaking off inside. Probably not the best for the engine :evil5:.

Even though I recognize the JLT is expensive I have been 100% satisfied. They even painted me the pipe to match the color of my car, which was not listed on their available colors, for no extra charge. It looks fantastic and since I am working on cleaning up my engine bay, this was the perfect decision.
