Hey all,

Well My build has been less then plesant, the prob we are now having is my car will not hold its timing, everytime we set it, then drive it, it will go out
again, Do I need a Cobra computer, or a tune? it runs like a BAG of crap even with the timing set, but at least it idles till the timing goes out.
It runs like a cylinder is not firing, but we checked the order, and they are all firing.

Am I gonna need a PC? or will a tune fix this?

Thanks in advance

Don

TDC, then set the Disturb, then we pull the stop, and run it, and adjust the Disturb to 10-14, then we shut the car down, put the stop back on, then run the car, we take it for a spin, it still runs rough, but no back fires or Dets. then after about 15 mins of driving, she will start to bog and spit, when we get back and put the light on it, its like at 40-50 Deg :(

The Stop? You mean the SPOUT conncector? Do you have an MSD or any type of ignition box? WHat kind of timing light are you using?

Sorry I ment the spout, No everything is stock, I am not sure about the light. We are a little puzzled as to why it keeps
throwin the timing. I have been told it may be my computer, but this car ran with the same cam I have in the motor now.
I had a suggestion it may be the heads that are causes the PC to back the timing off?

On the assumption that it's not a timing light issue it sounds like the balancer has "spun" (the inner and outer rings have separated). See if you can spot any rubber protruding from the balancer or see any wobble from the crank pulley when idling. That is about the only thing that would explain what appears to be a change in the timing. If that is the issue the engine is at serious risk to internal damage if the balancer is not replaced.

x2

When you pull the spout, it COMPLETELY takes the timing out of the ECU's hands. I think you're balancer is spinning and causing your timing to be WAY out of whack. Grab the balancer and see if you can wiggle it. IF its solid, doesn't mean it hasn't slipped. Put the engine at TDC by pulling a plug and rotating the motor until you FEEL the piston come to the top....check your balancer timing pointer. I seriously think your balancer is shot.
