1. Car running very hot, close to overheating. Fan kicks on when car is idling, but after some highway driving and stop, especially with the A/C on, temp gets very hot. Replaced thermostat. No change. Pulled the codes - 564. Looked in Haynes manual - it says something about the fan conrol circuit module. Checked the fuse...it's fine of course. Do I have to replace the CCRM? or is there another test I can do -I'm not good with electrical testing.

B. Also got code 332 - EGR insufficient valve opening. I do not have vacuum testing equipment. Does the code mean that I should replace the EGR valve, or am I on another hunt for leaks? I'm also still having a problem with the HVAC blower selector only blowing to the windshield. Could this be the same hose, or is this a different line that I have to chase down? I should also mention that the brake pedal is VERY spongy and low. I did the rear brakes (And painted the calipers!) which helped, and I'm planning on doing the fronts this weekend (brake fluid is very dark, better after bleeding). I hope I don't have to chage the booster, but that code did not come up.

Sorry for the novel, but this is the second summer of doing nothing but repairs, and my time is limited. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

1. How hot is the car getting? Do you have a real gauge on it so you can tell? Do both speeds come on when you do an EEC check? Do you have the little plug-in module to do the theck?

2. Sounds like a bad EGR valve. Replace it. If your A/C is only blowing out the vents, then the small vacuum line that protrudes through the firewall near the two A/C lines on the passenger side of the engine, then heads toward the driver side has a leak/crack somewhere. Trace it down and fix it. If you have a vacuum leak, that can cause all sorts of havoc, including a spongy pedal.

Paul.

Just using the stock dash temp gauge. It goes all the way to hot. Car wants to stall, A/C blows hot. I have the diagnostic tool scanner thingamajig. I didn't know to listen for 2 speeds on the fan when it does the check, but I will do again and listen. I think there was only 1 speed, though.

I'll know more about the pedal when I do the front brakes. I hope it's not a big vacuum thing, but so far, the car runs great othewise.

Found the HVAC problem. Not a regular vacuum line, but a small plastic line. Looks like it was cut under the hood, behind the intake...no wear on either end. And I know I didn't do it. Jury's still out on the EGR and fan.

Thanks for the help so far.
