I hope this topic fits this forum. I have a stock 1997 Mustang GT and the only mods are: Trick Flow/KNN FIPK, BBK catted x-pipe, and 40 series flowmasters. Between rounds, the car runs really consistent. This past Saturday, I was allowed three time runs and it ran in this order: 15.30, 15.31, 15.30. During the elimination rounds, it stayed in the low 15.30s. When it was time for the quarter finals there wasn't much time at all for the car to cool down. It slowed down to a 15.41 which cost me the race. I thought it was going to run in the 15.30s like it had all day. My question is, what can I do to help the consistency during back to back rounds?

I seen people ice down their intakes in between races. Actually makes a difference.

put the fan on a switch,

dial a little slower when the car gets hotter and starts hot lapping,

use ice if needed, shut the car off in the staging lanes and push it to the burnout box....

Electric water pump is a great mod too, its one of my next ones.

Thanks for suggestions. I'll probably use some ice and dial slower when I have to hot lap the rounds to finish this season out, and this winter during the off season, I will wire up the fans to a switch and if I can get an electric water pump, I'll wire it to a switch also.

Would it be worth it to invest in a trans cooler?

not unless you have a high stall converter...

but you will need a bettery altinator or two battierys or to charge teh battery between rounds with both a fan and a electric water pump
