My 97 Mustang GT has the auto in it and it just is not near as fun to drive as a 5 speed. what all would be needed to convert to a 5 speed? Would it be worth it?

stall speed is how high you can take you Rs at a stop before your tires spin...like mine is a 2600 rpm stall so i can launch close to that stock is around 1800 which is way too low when you add a aftermarket cam

also if I do the conversion to a 5 speed, then how much power can it handle? how much would my engine be able to handle with stock internals?

Thanks man. The swap will be the final thing I do, so probly about a year until I'm ready to do it, but I'll keep you in mind. How much would you charge for the complete kit?

I got my complete setup for 450 used..

honestly 96-98 cars are a dime a dozen, find a wrecked one, part it out and most likely youll come out even or ahead instead of buying it all seperate.

I know around here swaps go for like 600ish complete, usually you need a clutch, throwout bearing obviously.

I did this swap myself in a couple of weekends.

I had a whole parts car though.

Super easy, all it is is really a glorified clutch job, the hardest part is the pedal box... Just take out the drivers seat and that makes it ALOT easier.

If you're looking for a manual ECU i have one in the classifieds from a 98GT...

I rather pay a little more for a complete kit and not have the headaches and hassles of doing it from parts off a junker that i found. Greenscobie86, I see you said you had a parts car and it took a couple weekends, what about if I had a complete kit with everything laying there and ready to do the swap, then how long would it proble take to pull everything out of my car and put the new stuff in

It took me a couple of weekends to strip the parts car and then about 4 hours to do the swap on a lift in my buddys shop. I should have been more clear...

The pedal box will take a little bit of time.

It's really easy, also make sure you have a air powered metal saw/shear to "enlarge" the hole in the transmission tunnel...
