Is the only difference between a coolant reservoir and a catch can in how the coolant is put into it?
When the coolant is put into the top and it has a drain on the bottom is it a catch can and then you put it in the bottom and it gets sucked back out the bottom back into the rad is it a overflow reservoir?
I hope these questions don't seem too dumb...
It's just that I can only find catch cans that are small enough to fit where I need it to go. I'm looking at a Mr. Gasket black one that is called a catch can, but I figured if I could switch the drain on the side at the bottom into just a hose barb and that's where the coolant would go in/out of.
From what I understand as long as the hose from the top of the rad goes into the bottom of the overflow jug and the jug is vented I should be okay to use it as a coolant reservoir? Can the reservoir be at any height below the top of the rad?
What is everyone else running with an aluminum rad/electric fan? It actually looks like it may be the stock fan just modified maybe?
I bought the car like this with just a hose from the top of the rad straight to the ground. Don't want to/can't run it like this and I don't have a stock one to modify. Any one have any more ideas?
My battery is relocated to the trunk so I'm trying to find something to fit where the battery once was.
The Mr. Gasket # I'm looking at is 5129.
Thanks!

In all seriousness....I run a hose into a beer can. Track never looks twice. Catch can, resevoir, overflow tank...they're all the same...just a play on the words. Whatever you can fit there that won't leak is fine. Put the hose so that it is submerged into any fluid may puke out inthere.

Thanks... I had kind of wondered if that's all it is.
Just trying to find something that looks decent but not too pricey...
I don't really need or have the space for a big stainless one.
I'm really just looking for something to go where the battery was, does anyone have any ideas?
