Coolant Temp Going Crazy

So I was driving home today, and as soon as I flipped my blinker on everything cut out. Lights, radio, engine. The whole shebang. Then it just came back on with absolutely no provocation. For the rest of the drive home, though, the Coolant temp looked like it was trying to match my rpms.

Any idea what's going on?

You just lost a ground strap coming from the battery to the engine or the computer. Stop driving it until you get it replaced. It is now grounding through your temp sensor. All this is a guess of course, but have a competent electrical tech check it out for you. there should be a heck of a voltage drop across your ground. Usually its inside the stock ground cable, they loose connection through corrosion.

God that would be nice... I wouldn't mind having a bunch of new gauges that, you know, are correct, but money doesn't really permit anything that fun. :(

Any suggestions on how to hunt down my bad ground?
