Coolant Temp Sensor

So the Coolant Temp Gauge in the car has been broken since I brought her home 2 1/2 months ago. 10 dollar part, picking it up in town tomorrow. This looks pretty straightforward, unplug the wiring harness, and get some channel locks to the nut thingie holding it in? Will I need to drain any coolant for this or can I do it with a full load in a cold engine?

Yeh full coolant is fine. Just make sure you get the sending unit and not the sensor..

Dont use channel locks, use the correct wrench. It should be a 3/4" and there should only be a few drops of coolant leaking out (if any at all)

Sending unit is the gauge only.. Sensor is for the engine to know the actual temp.
