Coolant tube help with PI swap!

I'm having some trouble with the coolant tube I got through Ford (I double checked the part number and it's for the right application). When I connect it to the nipple on the backside of the water pump in the vally and lay it down, it sticks out 3 inches past the back of the head...? I know it bolts to the back of the driver's side head, but it just doesn't look right. Does anyone have a picture of theirs? Or any info? Thanks...

you sure you have it pushed all the way on the water pump nipple?

Yeah, the two ends are touching. Any ideas?

that might be it. i didnt need one but i have a 98. it might be different for a 96

it is, 96 and 97 are differnet from 98+

No. I didn't know I needed to put a new one on... Oh well, too late. I cut it about half an inch and the coolant tube about half an inch and now it's all good. Thanks for the info, though guys. O0

did you keep it setup like the stock setup w/ the rubber hose connecting the nipple at the waterpump to the tube? If so you'll be fine.. if you cut the tube and put it over the nipple from the block it will leak there.

I used a rubber hose and clamps to join the two.

That should do it for you. Mine is a '98 and didn't need the updated nipple either as it had it already.

yea mine had the upgraded nipple too , but when i put it on, it didn't fit tight. I was afraid that i would have a leak so i smothered the area with black RVT hate to have to rig something to work.
