Well, Next year is my senior year in high school and I was going to buy a brand new mustang gt in 2010 for a grad gift, but realizing the price will be too high, Im looking at other alternatives. I was browsing ads and noticed that 2006 mustang gt's in the USA go for $13000, compared to $20000 here. Anyways Im thinking of selling my Sn95 next year when I save up around $7000, and buy a S197 car. Thing is, there are other Mustangs in that price range, the 2003 Mach 1...

Basically, I want the input of any mustang owner, which one would make a good daily driver, smooth ride, good in snow(a must for me), and has good power. Im either gonna drop money into my current SN95 and make it fast, buy a 2003 Mach 1 Mustang, or buy a 2006 Mustang GT. Any input is greatly appreciated!

I'd keep your car and buy a decent daily driver/winter car for like 10g and then put the rest of the money into your Stang.

Thats the thing, I cant afford to have 2 cars or have the space for them. I would love the keep the yellow one, buy a new one and make the yellow one a good racer, but I cant afford 2 cars sadly...

Just get a real beater for the winter. As long as it is reliable and has heat that is all I need. Mine cost me like $700, I think and have had no problems with it. Ins. is less than $20 a month and that leaves me with enough money to put my car away for the winter. Just a tip.

I asked my rents last year about that, they said no due to a lack of space for one at our house for one, even though I said about storage... Basically, I can only have 1 car, so its one of those 3 options, even though i wish buying a winter beater was an option :(

Keep your car and make it unique.. anyone can just buy a Mach 1. I don't have a badass ride but thats the way I think of it.

dude with that money your "saving up" you could make the car you have now wayy faster then both.. sn197s are cursed for trannys, but a 4v mach would be sweet. you could take that do a ported eaton swap and full bolt ons and have one sick slaying bastard of a mach..

besides you wouldn't fit in with the old bastard thinking they have the fastest mustang cult of the sn197 drivers anyways bro.

i agree with mystical. buy a beater and put the stang in one of those storage units for the winter. but then again an 03 mach would be great too. i'd stay away from the s197's they're everywhere like bellybuttons

Somewhat true. There are more S197's than SN95's in my city, but the most of the guys driving the S197 are 30-60, My brother has an 08' GT/CS and hes 22. I have driven his and its very smooth, espicially the hydralic clutch, but the car felt really big compared to my SN95. I do want more than speed, I want the comfort too ie; leather, heated seats and all the goodies. I've also asked friends and my auto teacher, he says buy the newer one has it requires less maintainence, and would help me with newer cars as I am going to be a mechanic. My friends all say buy the S197, as they think they are amazing, and said he would be a fast car to own as well. Most didn't know there was a 2003 mach 1 :(.

a mustang wouldnt be a good choice then. rain is a big enough pain in the ass. multiply that by 10 for snow.

I asked my cousin who kept his high school car and that car is now a full fledged, 10 second drag car. Anyways he said if I want to get into his style of racing, Keep my car and work on it. But If i want to just to the odd 12-13 second street legal races, buy the 06 mustang gt. He said it is easy as hell to knock one in the low 13s with the right stuff. I also asked the girl Im sort of seeing right now, she said a newer car would always be better than mine, she says the yellow stand out too much :crying: Im going to get a Grabber orange one more than likely, those ones are bad ass! :whip:

I'm still not totally sold that selling your car for a new one is the best way to go. Yeah there are pluses to the new ones but there are so many things I personally dislike about them.

they're ugly.

keep the yellow car and just save up until you have enough space for another car or something. I'm doing the same thing as you except i'm saving up for a cbr600rr. and I just don't drive in the snow lol

I did further consulting with my brother and dad. My brother used to own my car, and now has a new one. He said keep mine and upgrade it and buy a winter beater, same with my dad. The only issue is my mom is a bitch when it comes to anything revolving electronics/cars. She is on the fence about the winter beater, but my brother would let me store my car at his house in the winter, but I dont know if he would like a bronco II parked at his house in the spring/summer/fall months. He said to fix my car up and make a beauty out of it, he liked the way it drives and said he only bought his new car as he was making lots of money and wanted to upgrade but he knows nothing about cars :p.

Get the mach. S197's are way too common. I got the mach and dont regret getting rid of my gt ever.
