So Im inches from starting my PI swap, just waiting on cash to buy a timing chain set..

I'm wondering if its worth the 50+ dollars to have the heads decked? The extra .5 in compression I heard can gain a little power, etc. But theres a little more work to be done to the motor..(Shave piston heads .25..)

So is it worth it?

God I keep hearing horror stories on the PI swap..I hope I'm happy with it..*Prays for 8.50's in the 1/8th*

You wont gain any measurable Hp. The dyno +/- is greater than the hp you'll gain. If you're heads are in bad shape then do it just for the sake of making sure everything uniform.

If you can afford the clearance between the valves and pistons, It's a good idea on any used heads to get them resurfaced. If they're new heads, I'd have them checked for warpage of any kinda just for safety, but otherwise it's not necessary. You won't gain any real power from it.

it's worth the $50 knowing that the head surface is flat. Have enough variation in the head surface or deck of the block and you'll be spitting out HG's. Do it.
