As some of you know I am installing an Edlebrock Performer intake on my car. Well, today I pretty much broke the tube in half on accident. I have a cap for the manifold & Iplan on making a plate for the elbow to block it off. Is there anything else that I needf to do for the EGR plug? I have the smog delete pulley, but thr rest of the system is still there. What all can I take off?

Do a search, this has been covered 840354032106801 times.

You should just buy another tube and reinstall it.

the systems are completely independent of each other. fix the egr tube and remove all the smog.

yes you can delete both of them. If you want to spend the extra dough you can get a new pipe. Or you could delete the egr and just plug up the holes in the back of the heads and intake

really worse? I deleted my car ran exactly the same. I know it recirculates unburnt gas but I never noticed a loss in mpg but then again I had 410s to begin with so my mileage always sucked. You can buy the EGR SIM on ebay for cheap but those are about a 50/50 shot of those working. I worked on my car for a while then it kicked the CEL anyway down the road. I ended up getting the car tuned and he tuned the egr off.

I do know this for a fact is that my Tube to My EGR is off at my H pipe and i am only getting 12.5 mpg in the city. I can only pull 26 on the highway. So i know it has a impact on MPG and my CEL will pop up every now and then also. So i will always keep it. I have worked with many Master ASE techs and Ford Master Techs and they agree just leave the EGR on there. Ford didn't put all that money into the engineering of it for it to be useless.

Fact: People who tell you to delete your EGR or PCV couldnt tell you the proper function of the system if their life depended on it...

A new EGR tube is $47 my cost and I was trying to get the car running asap. But Now the thermostat housing is leaking and the upper to lower gasket is leaking.

I may just end up buying another EGR tube so I dont have to deal with a CEL on all the time. This install has been the worse thing I have ever done with stuff not acting like it's supposed to. Never again willI buy an Edlebrock intake.

The EGR and holes in the back of the heads are two different systems... Removing the EGR causes a check engine light but removing the smog stuff does not. The fuel mileage will not be a noticeable change...
