I do a IPA wipe-down after clay then go right into polishing

I rewash just because I feel the car is dirty after I've rubbed the car down with the clay bar/clay lube...

An IPA wipedown is more than sufficient like Handz mentioned, but I just do it out of habit or something...

Agree with Handz, quick way to remove the old wax and get to the clearcoat if you have that stuff.

I typically just wipe of any residue with a quick detailer then get on to polishing.
I guess it would depend on the clay. if it was a ton of residue I'd prolly do a quick wash and dry.

I recently had a shop repair my rear bumper, but they got clearcoat overspray on the entire vehicle and are not taking credit for their screw up.

In Googling "clearcoat overspray removal" I've gotten two answers as far as clay bars are concerned. Yes, it will remove overspray, and no it won't. Does anyone have any actual experience with using clar bar to fix clearcoat screw ups? (I've heard wetsanding is the way to go, too, but I'd like to try my hand at it myself if anyone thinks I should give it a go with a clay bar.)

About to go put in work with the clay bar, rubbing compund, paint cleaner, polish & wax. Hopefully I can bring the neglected shine back...

i do paint and body work, clay bar is the way to go, just water and a clay bar and go in small areas. after that polish with a medium cut cleaner and then a fine cut cleaner. then on to your polish and wax of choice. i use all 3m compounds and transtar polish. thats what works best for me, everyone is different and there is prolly an easier way but that is the way i was taught
