we got our first freeze over here in gardner, so i took the stang out.

im paranoid about hurting the car so i ran it for about 20 minutes to make sure it was warmed up.

i went up to the school and decided i was going to slide around a little bit, since ive never slid in the car before.

i slipped it down into passing gear on the schools entry road (small little 2 lane road) and gave it a little gas...

the tires immediatly broke loose, shot up to 4k rpm and the car just spun out of control into a little 180, then when it was over,

i was facing the way i had just come in!

was fun :)

Oh you have no idea what type of fun you have just started for yourself, now wait till you find a nice snow covered parking lot. Play around for about 10 minutes and leave it with more cleared area form your tires then snowy :headbang:

On another note Gardner MA or somewhere else?

congrats on getting your man card punched.
I don't know about your school but the ones around here have cameras.
learn to do that stuff in a warehouse parking lot with plenty of room.

Ya, dry pavement is way more fun. easier to control the car..... not that I know anything about marking up parking lots in a Mustang.......

When I was learning how to drive, my dad made it a point to make sure I knew how to handle the car under bad conditions, so he had me go over to the high school's parking lot with him and do donuts, power slides, etc on the ice and snow for about an hour. At the time I was doing it in his T-Bird, but it was definitely entertaining none-the-less. In fact, I had gotten my permit in November or December, so that was actually one of the things I got to do one of the first times ever driving a car.

Ironically enough, I've never done, or ever really had the "urge" to do a burnout or donut in any weather conditions. I guess I just care too much about wearing down the tires.

I don't like snow with the mustang. I cannot move anywhere! Cars got the power to make dry ashfault feel like snow.

Even with a blown headgasket. :laughing5:

there are very few cars that cant be driven in snow... unless your car has quite a few go-mods or a power adder, i would probably assume my car probably has more power than yours does, and even with the 315's, i can still get around in snow just fine. i dont see any reason why you would have any harder of a time.

I don't do that crap, too hard on the car's diffy and tires. I will do a pre-burnout in the water box at the strip, but that's it. As for driving a mustang in snow, I let out my clutch and my car spins... it isn't fun but that's why it's parked right now :).

It also has to do with the semi bald cooper summer tires. Even with some tread last year though. I had to park it at my GF sisters place after only driving it a few miles in a light snow. I couldn't keep it straight on the road even trying to feather it, it was so touchy. Don't get me wrong, I like driving in extreme conditions, doesn't bother me one bit. But That's one thing I won't do is put it on snow again.

Also the central Canada weather makes your tires as hard as hockey pucks in the winter. I'm sure Riceslayer could agree on that to. lol

Yeah, sliding is fun...dry pavement takes more tread off your tires, my car usually kicks to the drivers side when I get on it. Instant 4k-5k rpm jump, lol. But my dad made me do it before I took my drivers exam.

A lot depends on setup. My dropped S-10 Xtreme was literally the most useless thing in the snow I have ever seen. I'd ride my bike in the winter cause the truck would never make it out of the parking lot. The mix of very low weight over the rear tires, some fatty Z-rated summer only high performance tires (8.75" rims), and the fact that it was a 2x4 5-speed that came factory with 4:10 gears meant if it snowed more then 1/3 inch I was peddling.

Also my Nova couldn't even handle rain. Light sprinkle yes but actual rain no. It was like driving on glare ice. =(

Thats why I didn't say no cars. Obviously anything thats slammed to the ground wont be of any use when there's snow piled up on the street higher than the car.
