But I was always taught that the "Oil cooler" on these fords like in the super duties and cop cars were actually meant to get the oil to operating temp sooner..then afterwards maintain a certain temp..thus a sort of preheater first and then a oil cooler second...I mean look at how it uses coolant rather than a Heat sink like a air to air oil cooler..?

sxynerd said:It could have been a dealer modified part. It very common for dealerships to modify a car after they get it to sell it and mark up the price point. (ie dealerships in the Mohave tend to modify cars and trucks with oil coolers and undercoating.)
But as far as I've seen, it wasn't an option on the order list. (At least I don't remember ever seeing it there) I'll see if I can find the PDF's of order options.
BTW all 96-98 mustangs have Romeo engines. The only reason mustangs got the Windsor from 99 to mid 01 is because there was a fire at the Romeo plant.
Retuning took the GT's V-8 to 225 horsepower, and a GT Sport Group arrived offering five-spoke 17-inch wheels, engine-oil cooler, and hood and front-fender stripes for $595.

I got certain options on my '98 but not the oil cooler. No oil cooler here. I have my original window stickers.
