Does a PI swap need a tune to run?

I'm doing a pi swap next month and don't know if it has to be tuned or not. I don't want it to run like shit after I do the swap. But if its not necessary then I'll wait.

It'll run, but you'd do well to get it tuned as soon as you can.

It will run ok until you can save and have it tuned. Then it will run alot better.

It'll run fine, forever, without a tune. It will run faster with a tune.

I ran mine without a tune and I was mis firing and sputtering real bad after 2,800 RPM's. Get it tuned and call it a day. Just to let you know, my PI swap and dyno tune gave me 72 rwhp. You'll enjoy it. :coolsmiley:

That's the kind of feedback I needed to hear. Do you have to run 93 or can you run a mid grade fuel?

There are alot of people in the mustang community that did the
PI cylinder head swap without running a tune and there cars ran
just fine.
I highly recommend getting a tune though after your PI head swap so,
you get the most power out of your set up and your A/F ratio is
corrected.
