Well after looking at the crazy expensive long and short block's offered by various vendors Im thinking of getting a build kit from JDM and having my engine done by my regular shop around the corner. I can get the entire kit ( rods / pistons / rings / oilpump / bearings / studs ) for 1700 with a rating of 1000hp. I would come out cheaper this way rather than paying the 4300 for a shortblock :blah2:. Now I have to decide on what route to take with my heads, there are several places that do porting on them and im thinking of having JLP do it ( they are expensive but have excellent results with them ). Cams are going to be compxe278ah.......and as for the blower im still on the hunt for a 2.3KB but if I dont find one before I get the parts for the build I may just go with the big Whipple :) Depends on how bad my feelings get hurt from the loss in weight in my wallet. :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: Pretty much the same build that most L owners do and nets 600-700rwhp and 700+rwtq that should get me to and from LOWES or HOMEDEPOT pretty quick dont ya think :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh:

How will your transmission and rear like this? :knuppel2:

9 inch rear in the L's NOT a 8 :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley: there are Ls in the 9's on the stock rear. The trans can hold it, although a re-build is a smart choice.......however in my case I dont beat on my L EVER so to be honest im not worried about failure due to excessive beatings on it.

The 4r70w is pretty stout, the 4r100 is crazy tough. If you have the time Dave, you may want to just screw it together yourself. It's super-easy, even if it's your first time, just take your time, keep everything clean and go slowly. Plenty of use on here can help you out.

As for head's, I always loved my VT/Foxlake heads, but it really kind of comes down to who you trust, they are all ultimately pretty close to one another.

Im garage/shop less :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: speaking of Foxlake they use to be a partner of the owners in his old Outlaw car years and years ago so they could be a option on the head port.....but im still leaning toward JLP sicne Lightnings ARE what they do....and about all they do.

Well then you can pop in and bug them, so that's awesome.

Have you done any valvebody mods? And which trans does your truck have?

phat, screw the kb 2.3 just go for the gold and get the whipple

money is going to be the issue there man, I can get the 2.3KB for 2k compared to the whipp that would cost me at least 1,500 MORE :nonono:

just the satisfaction of knowing its " there" :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley: No I do NOT beat on my truck......I would say honestly that it sees a WOT romp once a week and thats it. Other than that I rarely get into it hard enough to even make any boost. Even though this is the way I drive it, that wont deter me from going built and making serious power. Its all in the fun of motorsports I guess.......and of course it has to make a pass or two down the 1320 :)
