SO i've been doing alot to my car lately, and have fixed quite a few things. However there is one I have yet to figure out but i feel i'll probably be pulling a tranny to do it. The car at about 90 if your rolling hard *understand i did this at like 3 in the morning, no one was around, no one could have gotten hurt* and your in 4th, when you go to put it into 5th to go of course faster, suddenly the shifter starts to vibrate extremely violently and the car feels like its about to fall apart. Now I have new U-Joints, it can't be wheels and tires as it seems to only happen at 90 in 5th. And in most cases it shakes but sometimes it won't and be smooth as glass under the same conditions. Not to sure what it could be. I really doubt the balancer as I figure it would have some vibration in the car else where when driving it, but it's smooth. Any ideas? I'm thinking its something internal in the trans

Possibly the Pilot Bearing. I know mine is bad and it only does it at certain times and not all the time.

hmm... at high speeds i've heard of the ring and pinion causing vibrations, and i would think that if it were the d/s that
it would be rpm related, so you might experience it at appox the same rpm in a different gear.. I don't know about the
balancer though... :dontknow:

no vibration in any gear under 90 mph? if not, i'd bet its the transmission. if it was the driveshaft on back, you would have a vibration in any gear. same goes for the pressure plate forward - thats more RPM related.

thats what i thought. Basically at 90 in 4th i can be rolling and be hitting it hard, and as I go to throw it into 5th the car suddenly starts shaking. Or well the shifter does. And after that, the trans act's funny until the mornin after I let the car cool off and all.

check your drive shaft and make sure the bolts are tight.. mine did the exact same thing and the 4 bolts holding the driveshaft to the rearend were loose....

JR believes its the DS. It may be since the driveshaft u joints were crap. May have wobbled out the bushing in the tail shaft or even just got out of balance.
