The Orange dash will be gone ASAP. Plan on buying a Hall's Resto dash with Autometer gauges and replacing the orange with some new stuff. It orginally had a 289, but it has a 302 now.

Not too suprising. After these long years, the inner cowl probably leaks. Usually leaks around the interior vents under the dash on both sides. Usually best to cut the outer cowl away, do the necessary sheet metal repairs inside and then replace the outer skin & paint.

For now try keeping the cowl vents covered with plastic or garage it. There is a plexiglass panel w/ a perimeter seal available through classic Mustang parts suppliers that attaches to the cowl. You put it on and remove it as needed.

That sounds about right. When you say cowl vents, you're talking about the piece in between the hood and windshield right? On mine, there arent any holes, its one solid piece unlike newer cars. But the leak is coming out where you say it is sooo.... iunno

There should be a 2 or 3 foot series of "slots" in the cowl panel from which the heating system draws air through. The wiper shafts come up right through it. If the windshield seal is rotted it will leak from around it too.

Have you got any pic's of the cowl area??

I know the slots you're talking about, but my car has none. The cowl area is one solid piece, no holes, no slots. And the windsheild strip looks pretty good, but I suppose it could be going under the chrome trim or something. I just pulled the front half of the carpet out and set it out in the sun, shouldnt take too long to dry it out and then I'll pull it back into the barn/shop. I think I'm not going to worry to much about that leak and just try and fix that other thing and buy a little garage or something. Don't plan on driving it in the rain anyways.

And uncltrvlnmatt, you might be right on the no overfill thing. Was looking at parts on eBay last night and saw one and when I clicked on it, it turned out to be a windshield washer resevior... which might just mean that the PO hooked it up as a overfill tank. it's busted up pretty bad so I'm just going to buy a new radiator and run the pipe down the side like normal.

In other news, I've been doing some thinking and I might try and find some Mach 1 front seats for this thing. Those stock two pieces of leather wrapped cardboard just arent going to keep me from sliding around, especially with just a tiny lap belt haha.

The Mustang has come a long way from those days hasn't it?? I had a windshield replaced on mine years ago and the guy installing it said that the windshields on the first few years of the Mustang were very difficult to seal up. The seal is more like the rear window on a pickup truck.

I know, just getting the seats out were annoying. you have to get underneath the car and undo the nuts, but you have to be super carfeul because they could fall and be lost in the oblivion in between metal. Carpets finnanly dryed out, going to put it back in this weekend. Still not sure what I'm going to do about the leak. Slowly saving up money for a radiator. I'm about to be getting some money from selling dogs, so I might be able to afford a radiator and getting my car painted, but thats going to be spreading it kind of thin and I still need to save up some $$$ for senior trip. Whatever the case, I AM BUYING A RADIATOR ASAP. i don't care if taht means I have $20 to last me a week, I'm getting a frigign radiator. haha

Been driving around in the 67 today. Man, I love this car. 1st and 2nd are fun and then its a BIGGG jump to 3rd and 4th. 3rd and 4th are kinda close to the same ratio. I almost wonder if I have it rebuilt if I can make 3rd's ratio closer to 2nd so its not so far away from 2nd and sooooo friggin close to 4th. Its an odd gear for sure. Bought some oil and a filter and washing mit so I can wash it without it gettin soaked inside. I took it by my friend with a 68 coupe and showed him and his dad (his dad has a Eleanor clone) and I got to talking to his dad and he offered to help me build my own dash with Autometer gauges. He did his himself so he knows how to do it. Score, that'll help pay for that. I took the grill stuff out of the middle and ran around like Bullit, but I plan on throwing it back in. Looks too empty without it right now.

Did I mention I love this car? Wheels/tires are the next thing to get besides the maintence stuff (brakes loook bad... work decently suprisingly) and all that sooo yea. Stay tuned haha

Not just that, but a beat to hell 73 Mach 1. haha

I wish I didn't have to paint my 95. My 67 would have new shoes by now. But oh well. 2 fun cars > 1 fun car.

After my car gets paint, I'm going to see if my mom will go halves with me on buying new wheels and tires. She already offered to buy new tires for it right now, but I want 17s so I've got to have wheels too haha. She's also trying to buy me a HDTV for college... I'm gonna try and do away with this silly TV idea for wheels. lol

Thats a Mustang nut for you. "No mom, I don't want that plasma. Instead, go halves with my on new wheels and tires!"

Went to the Goodguys show in Nashville and saw some amazing cars. I've got quite a few ideas from one 67 Coupe that ran autocross all day. Go check my pic thread in the Photography forum, and you'll see why. I'm thinking Shelby front nose, scoops, and rear end with a few custom touches to keep it from a GT/CS wannabee

A month has passed and I haven't done anything to 67. I drove it everyday when my 95 was in the shop getting painted and loved every second of it. The motor is burning oil pretty bad, but it still runs pretty good IMO. I'm getting ready to put it into storage as college is coming up fast. I'm trying to sell some stuff (leftover SN95 parts, guitar, amp, etc etc) to get some sort of fund going for the 67. It needs wheels and tires ASAP. Drifiting around a Hardees when it starts raining is not fun in a 42 year old vehicle. After that I'm going to start saving up to buy a nice crate motor or something. The oil consumption is pretty bad I think, and I don't know if maybe its got a leak or something or if it us just burning that much but whatever the case, I'd like to swap a 351W in it. After that, its going to the same shop that painted my 95. I really liked the staff there and I know they'll do an awesome job on it.
