I have been wanting to paint my break calipers for a while but didn't want to do what everone else does with red/silver. I have been considering using duplicolors metalcast green paint and finally decided to order it and try it out. I have also been wanting to do something with the pony in the grill area so I decided to try this paint out and see how it looks there. What do you guys think?

I just finished it up an hour ago so I have not seen it in daylight yet to make a final judgement but so far it looks pretty cool IMO. I decided that I will cut apiece of plexi that is appox a 1/16" bigger then the pony and cover it with a reflective chrome vinyl to go behind it and make a chrome background for it. I have also considered that it might be fun to put a single led in it to make a lit background around the horse for those special night time occasions when I want to impress the local high schoolers, but really just to do something a little different.

My chrome on my intake has been looking a little warn lately, I think I will use some of this paint and my decal cutter to freshen it up a little bit.

I was thinking of doing that but didn't think the green matched the DFG enough for my liking.

Looks like the glue in your headlights discolored like mine did... I hate that.

the color doesn't match DFG straight at all. I tried some test spots before I did it on the car and it was too bright. That is why I used the smoked color to make it dark before I put the green on. The combination of the two make it pretty close to it and I can say that it looked even better in daylight.

The smoked reminds me of the black candy that the auto paint supply store mixed up for me when I told them I wanted to smoke my tail lights.

well if you had looked at the link it shows it after I put the smoked on first, then the green. With a coat of clear it would have made it darker and still shiney.

I finally got around to completing the chrome outline behind the pony logo in the grill that I painted.

with the plexi there I cold not help but throw an led in the plexi. This will be for VERY rare occassions at night shows and such. I know I i will probaly get flamed for it but I like it so far and do not have to turn it on unless I want to.

I think that grille emblem with backlight is sweet, but IMO it belongs incorporated with the interior/system

wow, no fires? I figured it was too close to ricer to be cool. I am probably going to use the blacked out pony/outline somewhere in the interior as I do like it. Now to go with it I think I am going to mount just one or two leds in the grills in the hood by the windshield as well as inteh brake cooling vents and side exhaust holes. I do not want anything super bright so I am going to install a knob that will allow me to set the brightness.

The side louvers right now are made out of mdf/bondo/fillers and painted. I have experience with fiberglass but not glass mold making. I want to use that piece as a plug to make a fiberglass mold, to allow me to then recreat the exact same shape out of fiberglass. Of course being a mold if it is done right I could make more then one, does that mean you would be interested in a set if I could make them? If so just curious how much would you think is fair to charge, how much would you pay and would would be a stupid deal you could not turn down?

I like the led in the grill especially for those night GTG's. Do you have any other color led's to try out? I think red might offset better with the DFG exterior paint.

ya know I wish there was a cool lookin green led that would match the color, but green led come out lookin like john deer green. My door sills light up with "MUSTANG" in blue, and I have swapped my interior lights to blue as well. It is not something I plan on using often at all, but like you said I think at our evening cruise in's my mustang and other local clubs have it will be a neat attention getter.

thanks for the compliments.

thanks. as I said I am going to put in a knob to allow me to tune the brightness down. I want them just barely bright enough that you will see them from some angles and not notice them in others. Just BARELY bright enought to get noticed. Does that mean you didn't mind them in the brake vents and the side exhaust holes?

They may be an attention getter, HOWEVER, imo, its not the attention that I'd ever want. Reminds me of when people thought the "cobra eye" windshield washer nozzles were cool. Save the jazzy lights

Not really digging the lights, but your car bro. I do really like the finish of the paint...I may smoke my pony when I get a chance.
