Ok, i apparently have 4 catyltic converters or 2 cats and 2 silencers, i dont know which. someone who said they are all cats said take 2 off and you still pass emissions in georgia but not if you went to california. someone today said two are silencers.

if i take two off can i still pass emissions assuming they are cats.

if 2 are silencers, which one are they.

i have a 96 GT by the way.

thankyou.

BTW, how do engine swaps and emissions work. heard you cant pass emissions with an engine swap.

idk about 96 but I know 98 has 4 cats and 2 resonators and 2 mufflers.

+1 I think all the mod motor cars had 4 silencers and 2 cat's or 2 silencers and 4 cats... I dunno lol it's one of those. :dunno: Just go out and buy an aftermarket catted H or X-pipe and call it a day! :dancing6:

You can swap a newer engine into an older car. But you can't swap a older engine into a newer car.

for example: 4.6 into a 1966 mustang is o.k., but a 289 out of a 1966 mustang into your car won't fly.

It would have to be custom made but I'm pretty sure you could still pass emissions with a 289 in a 03 mustang as long as you had cats and stuff.
