So ive decided on a SCAT rotating assembly from summit. found the kit i want but theres two kinds. One is a balanced kit, the other isnt. the difference is 500$, so my question is; is it worth it? or is that money better spent on another component.

My build is on a stock block (306), wanting to make it streetable with boost.

Thankss

If your seeking performance and especially using boost - never neglect balancing a motor. Not only will you free up some additional power, but will significantly increase the longevity of a performance motor. The $500 seems a little steep from my experience and should be closer to the $250-350 range. You could order the kit unbalanced, and then have a reputable local performance engine builder balance it for you.

have your shop balance it with your balancer and flywheel. shouldnt be more than 200-250 or so. unless they have to add malloy which is like 75 a slug.

alright, so balancing yes, but get the unbalanced and have it balanced somewhere. sounds good.
