is it possible to install the engine/trans from the top? i know the preferred method is from the bottom, but i don't have access to a lift.

Most of us do them from the top. Pull your hood, radiator, and ac condenser and have at it.

Sure can, easy pezy. As of yesterday I have done it 7 TIMES since July, wish I was still drinking... I like pulling/installing both for speed and I can set up the clutch easier.

From the bottom?......on a Mustang? That would be "interesting".

Actually, its not as interesting as you might think. If you have a lift its really easy. Unbolt the k member and lift the car off of all of it.

I do prefer going through the top myself.

I wasn't aware that the bottom frame work came apart that easily...................I did do a Honda Z coupe one time and the car just unbolted from the front end (engine, suspension, wheels, etc.). Then lift the car off that assembly...........different. I have seen a number of vans where the engine came out the bottom also.

I think I'll stick with the out the top method when possible.

You can do it with the hood on but it’s only 4 bolts. Why take a chance.

Pull the hood and the radiator. There is no need to pull the a/c condenser. If you pull the engine and trans separately, you dont even have to pull the radiator.

i did pull them separately but i had help, i don't want to struggle installing the trans by myself. OK thanks will pull the hood as well, rather not destroy anything lol.

The mid 60's Fords came out the top, also the mid 60's Chevys. Both had inline 6's. Had to drop the trans first and your cherry picker had to have a good long boom.

I am trying to think of a van that you could go from the top?
Sort of the top. More like from the front!
