Engine Speedbuilding

I was sitting around the firehouse today at work and was watching something on Powerblock about a speed competition for building engines. I'm pretty damn impressed. The winning pair started with a bare big block engine block and a bunch of parts laying around. Then they used only hand tools to install the entire engine from crank to headers, they were allowed to use a cordless drill to prime the oil pump, but that's it. These guys started with nothing and had the engine together and running in a little over 16 minutes! Then, after they get it running a few judges tear it back down again just to make sure that everything was torqued to specs. Pretty impressive to watch really. Imagine what these guys could accomplish in a weekend with a constant supply of coffee :thumb:

I wasn't all that impressed myself, I actually just skipped that show on my DVR. It was all pre-fit and everything, all they had to do was screw it together.

I can do the same thing with a transmission, when someone want's to watch, I can blow one out in an hour, but I already did everything ahead of time, and they don't know that, lol

yea its the engine buildin comps they do every year. all the big nascar teams enter it and ill be damned if a private company(PME Engines) beat em, lol. just goes to show that just cause you got a big name builder dont mean you got the best stuff.(even though speed has nothing to do with quality)
