So a while back my friend Nathan called me ask and asked me nicely if I would powdercoat an intake for him. "Sure" I said. No big deal.
Little did I know he suckered me bigtime. He prompty drops thing off. :tard:
That's right, a Weiand Big Block Ford Tunnel Ram.
So after several hours of beadblasting, and a case of brake cleaner - I managed to get it clean. I was excited about the finish because it had already been polished so it was uber-smooth. The casting is a bit pitted, but I suppose that's to be expected.
This thing BARELY fits in my oven. I had a quarter inch of clearance on each side. I had to "practice" getting this thing in the oven before coating it, because I had basically zero room to move and if it touches anything, the finish would be messed up. Anyway, I coated it and let it cool in the oven because I didn't want to try to get it back out again while the powder was still cooling.
This thing is, without question, the bitchin-est thing I've ever coated.
I still need to get the butterflies coated, but this took me literally all day just to coat, and I ran out of time.
I'm sure Nathan is pretty excited to put this thing on his boat.
...and on another sidenote of awesomeness - I picked up this x-pipe for the notch in a trade from a friend for my old MM Panhard Bar. I'm SO FRIGGIN EXCITED to have a nice quiet exhaust for the car. Boo YAH!
All in all, this was a pretty good weekend.
