Hey guys, this is my first post because I have been over at ModdedMustangs for awhile. But I have a 1998 GT with a offroad X pipe from Pypes, with a pair of flowmasters 40's. When ever I start the car, except on rare instances, when i start the car some part of the exhaust pipe hit against something, and is very loud. So I was hoping someone here has a solution to this problem. Thanks

get under the car and check the clearance around everything and also make sure your motor mounts are good and that its not shaking the motor a little more then normal.

What he said only way to diagnose the problem is to get under the car and look . Alot of the time where the mufflers sit they hit the rear subframe

I had problems with my tailpipes hitting the subframe directly over top of the axle. Just check your tolerances.

Oh, and I thought i'd mention that was with a Flowmaster catback.. I believe they were flowmaster 40's with the corresponding tailpipes.

Holy crap your bringing back memories of my 1997 GT. I use to have this problem also but it got fixed somehow. I think mine was my midpipe was to close to the frame because i used a jack to lift the midpipe then i tighten down the bolts with the jackpressure still applied which would help raise the midpipe from the ground. I would loosen all the bolts you can on the exhaust system and re-tighten them.

One of the hanger is probably coming off the rubber piece

Guys thanks for the replies, I was not expecting this much feedback from this post. But I remember another problem, whenever I go over a speed bump, my exhaust hits pretty hard. So was wondering if you guys know how to fix that too. Thanks again for all the help with my car, pictures will be coming soon!!
