smoke test would have found the leak if it was there.
what year do you have? motor? mods? have you pulled codes? How old is the tune up?
BTW, punctuation can be your friend.

Sorry about my punctuation lol . Its a 95 5.0 mods are,,,,,,gt40p upper and lower intake ,,,gt40p heads ,, trickflow valve springs ,,crane 1.7 rr ,, ford racing hearers,, cai ,, brand new iac ,, o/r h pipe no cats singlechamber flows with turndowns .
Its driving me crazy, I don't really understand exactly how to pull codes with no code reader. not sure on the tune up only had the car about 2 months
My thinking on the exhaust leak was that its leaking before the 02 sensor at the donut gssket as well as missing two bolts on the headers bad I Kno lol thank you for any help, and again I appoligize for my punctuation.

I'm a stickler for the environment. I always suggest leaving emissions products on the car unless that are exclusively peventing your car from properly functioning and/or performing. Last I checked, kenne bell lost a whopping 0 horsepower on a dyno test by leaving cats on the car... lol. emissions equipment does nothing but good.

THAT BEING SAID, I suggest replacing it. It's still functioning and serving its purpose. You can find a carbon canister of many different ford makes/models that will work. So, go to the junkyard and start diving in. If you do delete it, it will throw a check engine light, it will require you to block off the feed line(s) from the gas tank, and it will require you to plug the intake port(s) on the engine. All-in-all, its a half hour job.

To remove it (or service it) you will have to remove the inner fender well on the passenger side. If I recall correctly its held in with plastic rivet things, a few chistmas tree pins, and two small screws on the bottom. Once the fender is out, there are two bolts holding the canister on its mount. Remove those. Inspect the canister for cracks, pinched lines, or broken lines.

If you want to delete it, simply unplug the lines from the canister. Plug the line from the gas tank, remove the lines to the engine, and plug the engine ports. Throw the canister and engine lines away, re-install the fender cover.

What the canister does: The canister collects the excess gas fumes from your tank and purges them into your engine when it reaches temperature and highway speeds. If you delete the canister these fumes simply make their way out to atmosphere as wasted combustible materials, opposed to getting properly used and being exhausted out.

A haynes/Chilton manual can tell you how to pull codes with a paperclip. It will also give you a breakdown of the codes and possible causes.
If your hearing a hissing in the wheel well, that would be the first place I'd start looking for the leak.
While your there double check that the whole smog pump and lines are removed and the ports on the back of the heads are plugged. And the tube coming from the H pipe if it has one.

An exhaust leak at the header flange can most definitely affect the O2 sensor readings which in turn affects both the idle and cruise performance. It does not affect WOT as the computer looks to a fuel look-up table vs. relying on the O2 feedback signal at idle and cruise.

I highly doubt an exhaust leak would cause much problems.. I've had large exhaust leaks before with no big problems. It sounds exactly like what happened when I forgot to plug my MAF back in one time.. but if there's a hissing/airy sound i'd agree with the vacuum leak. It probably acts similar to having no MAF lol. Sounds like a drag car at idle but runs ok at WOT.
