My current setup is a bbk o/r x pipe and flowmaster american thunder? catback all 2.5". I'm probably going to sell my current x pipe because I dont like the way my car sounds and I believe that it is mostly the design of the pipe. I had the same x pipe on my 84 and it did not sound "tinny" like it does on my 98. I have heard some people say it is because the bbk pipe isnt a true x pipe. Is this true and I was told the GP pipes on ebay are pretty good. I'm open for suggestions and I'm not stuck on an x either, I am willing to use an h pipe also if it sounds better. Thanks

seen a pic on the interwebs (key word) of someone chopping their BBK h pipe to customize it and the holes on the side of the pipes to make the cross over were like the size of half dollar.... terrible craftsmanship.

i avoid BBK for the most part... some stuff I'll buy (valve covers, for example) other stuff i wont (exhaust.)

I have learned to avoid upr but I never had any issues with bbk on my old car. It sounded good and my adjustable cable and quadrant kit worked great. Now on my new car the upr kit is part of the blame for my transmission going poo.

I had a bassani catted x, didnt care for it. Put on a o/r H and i will never look back. From raspy to deep, i love it and get a lot of compliments

thats what I'm after. It sounds kinda raspy now and want a little deeper tone. Do you have any exhaust vids?

i loved my bassni catted X, personally. But i agree i liked the way my friends 95 sounded with some unknown offroad H pipe and unknown mufflers (we're guessing flowmaster 44s lol)

i suggest an H pipe for the deep tone youre looking for.-

Don't go with magnaflow. They suck. I have an o/r x pipe and Magnas and I hate it. Almost sounds stock it's so quiet.

My magnaflows are insanley loud, all depends on the ones you buy! It was loud enough WITH stock cats, nevermind without them.

man that sounds awesome. I think for now I will just be changing out the x pipe for an h but that sounds sweet.

have you ever heard a DR Gas x-pipe? The "x" section of the pipe is closer to the engine compared to most (if not all) other H and X pipes on the market. There's a couple videos on youtube of different mustangs with the Dr Gas midpipe. It doesn't sound raspy like most of the other x-pipes and really has a tone all it's own. It's smooth and deep sounding; not raspy at all. That "clamshell" design of the BBK and Bassani x-pipes does not create a very good sound in my opinion. H-pipes sound good too, but check out the Dr Gas x-pipe
