ok, well, if youve seen any oneof my other topics/questions/posts, you know i am a total noob, figured id get that out of the way before insults start. OK, my main focus right now is performance, (when i pick up my car tommorrow or the next day), if, i say, put kind of loud flowmasters on my car, will that helpmy horse power and or torque (somehow) or would i just get a nice loud sound. (last mustang i had had flowmasters, loved the sound). if it doeshelp, its a nice median between my performance and aesthetic goals, and ill do it some time in the next couple of months, if not, forget about it for now, thanks.

ps: people ive asked in my personal life, some say it does make a diffrence, others say doesnt with a stock catalytic converter.

YOu wont see much with a weld in muffler, and even a whole cat back system you wont feel the difference!

I noticed no difference in hp with catback/muffs - only sound, but the mid pipe is where the hp was gained in my car with a little gain in sound, but not that much.

Catbacks may add around 5rwhp at best, and that's a GOOD catback. Weld-ins are nearly zilch. Midpipes, on the other hand, are a place where you can unleash around 15rwhp or so, the stock 6 catted midpipes they put on our cars flow horribly. And midpipes open up the sound more than the mufflers (louder, deeper tone, much more throaty regardless of muffler you choose).

Flowmasters sound good, but if you really want to maximize your power potential, flowmasters are some of the worst flowing and performing mufflers on the market today. Really I can't think of many aftermarket mufflers that CAN'T outflow them. If you like the sound of a chambered muffler, I'd steer you more toward the Hooker Aerochambers, or better yet, the Bassani system (Bassanis are really more a hybrid chambered/straight through design). MACs make pretty good power too, they're one of the louder systems out there though. Naturally aspirated the numbers don't show as much, but the second you supercharge or especially turbocharge a car, that's when you REALLY see how good/bad a system performs. I've seen people gain nearly 30rwhp on a turbo car just swapping their Flowmasters to Dynomax ultra flos.

I'd get something other than flows because everyone has them, your car should sound different, and you'd get slightly better "gains" from a straight through like SLP, or borla stingers.

You are right, you'll never feel the difference but do you really want to follow what everyone else is doing?

I don't know how it is around where you live, but I'm almost tired of hearing flows, no offense to anyone who has them. I think they sound really good, just too popular.

I got Flowmasters on my car the day I drove it off the lot. Sounded good but not loud enough. Week after I had a Magnaflow OR X pipe installed. Not only did the car sound good, the car also felt a tad bit quicker.

I now have the Flowmaster 10 series race mufflers. The car sounds awesome and the car most definitely felt quicker with those mufflers on.

The 10 series flowmasters sound really good. They are unique and seem to have the traditional hollow sound at low rpms but scream like a straight through up top.

Don't get the SLP's, they will drive you nutty before long.

Don't listen to this guy. He obviously has no ears. I've had mine on for 8 months and smile every time I drive it. :hammer:

I got a ticket a couple of weeks ago by a bitch cop in a small town. I was even shifting before 2000 rpm's and she pulled me over. Oh well... I am gonna pay 100 bucks for the fine but the mufflers are staying on.

I have a little history with her. She is a seargent on the police force I used to work for. We were out patrolling one night on the south end of town. She is patrolling the northwest side. She calls in a license plate and not 30 seconds later a call goes out for burglary in process 1 block from her last location. She doesn't answer and they call her again. She then responds that she's not anywhere near there. So, I respond as does our LT flip on the blue lights head up there. We catch the meth head in the act and I was dreading the paperwork when she comes strolling up wondering how everything went. To say that I was pissed would be an understatement. The LT was pissed too, It was about 30 minutes left on our shift and my LT gives her the arrest and along with that all the paperwork and everything involved with booking the meth head into jail.

So when I say a bitch gave me a ticket, I mean it with all due respect for her >:)
