Facing in, or out?

Well, it's almost time for me to start with my T5 swap, but I'm presented with a dilemma, faced only by world leaders and some folk involved in tree pruning.

I've got a single garage - do I put the car facing in, or out for the conversion?

I would back in to the garage. It seems like it would be easier that way. More room to work in front of the car

Oh shit this is a serious question?

I always pull mine in, I like to work closer to the garage wall to keep away from the hot sun that aways seems to be at the opening of the garage.

how big is the garage? Back it in, even if theres enough room, it would be better to have more in the front so you can pull out the old trans and into the driveway.

Depends on how you're doing it. If you plan on dropping the trans under the car I don't think it matters. Possition it so you have good room on the sides, and so you can get it high enough to clear the top of the bell.

If you plan pulling the motor/trans out in one shot, the engine hoist needs to roll on concrete, so if your driveway is dirt, don't back it in. Also, make sure your garage door is tall enough for the boom if you back in. I had this happen, 99% done engine was coming out, and the top of the hoist hits the garage door frame without clearance to get the motor out. Now what. lol

i'm not sure for a trans swap it really matters unless you're using an engine hoist as mentioned. Maybe whichever way allows the doors to open further?
