radiator fan or? Ill assume radiator fan for now and say its an easy fix.

remove shroud
remove visible hardware surrounding motor
pop out old fan motor and disconnect from plastic fan, I remember this being the only tricky part
buy ridiculously expensive replacement and install reverse of removal.

Well the fan comes on, when the a/c or heat is on...so it works, but it doesnt turn on unless either of those is on

now when you say temp sensor, do you mean the black on on the passenger side of the intake, or the one on the drivers side?

It supposed to come on with the a/c.
But not the heater unless the water temp reaches the point to turn it on.

could be a faulty wiring connector. test easy stuff first its a 2 speed fan so it turns on high when the ac is on. low speed should be kicking in for in town driving and such. get it up to temp and see if its getting power for the low speed.

or you could pull codes. one of the first things in the test is the operation of the fan at low and hi speeds.
That isn't going to test the temp sensor, only the wiring and circuitry and motor speeds

Not to hijack the thread but does our fan turn off or go to low speed at highway speeds? My temp sits at 195 in town and on the highway it goes up to just under 210 with the a/c on. To get it to come down I have to turn the a/c off. Any ideas???

210* is not hot and is close to the low speed on temp.(Depending on the source the low fan on temp is 208* or 220*). The only time speed is related to the fan is when the A/C is on. The fan will turn off at speeds around 45 mph. Here's the section in the Ford Service Manual electronic version

Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM)

The fan control is governed during vehicle operation by the constant control relay module (CCRM) and powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650). Fan control is energized under the following conditions:

l Engine temperature higher than normal. Fan control starts operating at 105?C (221?F) and stops when temperature drops to 94?C (200?F).

l A/C ON and vehicle speed does not provide enough natural airflow. Fan control starts running at or below 69 km/h (43 mph) and stops at 77 km/h (48 mph).

This is what you need to do asap

On the wiring harness that comes into the CCRM there are numbers on each wire that goes into the harness.

Grounding number 17 on the CCRM will turn the high speed fan on at all times.

If you don't want it to come on all the time( well every time you turn your key on) you need to run a switch to the inside of the car ...

My mustang never gets hot and runs good and cool 24/7 and the colder these cars run the better they run ...

Ever realize when you start your car up in the morning it runs way better and has more power but as it heats up it slows down and feels sluggish .... I have owned 10 mustang 5.0 and the cooler they run the better they run PERIOD...

Hope this helps ....
