Hello, I've got a fiberglass Cobra R style front bumper for my 95 GT, love the look of the whole Cobra R body kit I bought the car with. However, the front bumper has never fit right. The plastic headlight tray barely holds it up along with a metal bar the previous owner ran from the bottom of the radiator support to just behind the chin of the bumper. The worst part is by the quarter panels though. The fiberglass is too thick and just doesn't fit in those metal brackets on either side. Between the poor fit and the weight, the corners of the bumper are always pulling themselves up, which not only looks awful but it drops the chin of the bumper even further down.

So, I imagine at least a few of you have dealt with fiberglass bumpers like this and know a good way or two the get it mounted better. Thoughts? Every time it rides up it scratches my quarter panel paint just a little more.

Id say seek out a local body shop familiar with fiberglass work and let them know your desires. It wont be cheap, but them fiberglass guys are typically good at tweek and tuning glass work.

Ive had my share of fiberglass forming car audio and it becomes undesired to work with mostly because my facility isnt fiberglass or bodywork (in general) friendly. The amount of sanding and dust is a major clean up.

have you ever tried to remove the bumper and header panel and realign it? It is often easier to remove the plastic header panel that holds the lights and the top of the bumper at the same time, and reinstall them at the same time. The way the top of the bumper cover slides into it can be hard to line up when it is mounted, I took it off put the two together on the ground and then it went right on. If the previous owner tried to put it on with the header panel in place they might have got tired of fighting it and just said F-it. A simple realignment would be worth your time to try.

Yeah, I've tried shifting it around and realigning it a couple ways, but it's not really out of place. It just doesn't sit in those metal brackets on either corner where it meets the fenders. Thinking about trying to 3D print some different brackets just to see if something like that could fix it, then making them out of a better material if it does.

I thought I saw somewhere that you could order the metal end pieces. Maybe it is made for a new edge or something slightly different?
